In the fall of 2007, I joined an amateur cycling team here in the valley called Procon. As everyone does, I began my road racing career as a wet-behind-the-ears Cat5. Over the course of the season, I began to find my strengths and weaknesses, and luckily I made it through the entire season in basically one piece. I've made many friends within and beyond Procon in the cycling community, and I've become completely addicted to the sport.

Since upgrading to Cat4 near the end of the 2008 season, I've hired a coach to help me improve my skills, strength, and endurance. I'm continually amazed at my ability to improve myself on the bike.

So far in the 2010 season, I've found that my greatest increase in ability has come in time trialing. I am quickly realizing that this part of the sport can become one of my fortes. I am really drawn to the idea that I am racing against myself and the clock.

One of my major goals for the 2010 season is to compete in the Iron Horse Classic in Colorado, and not only finish with a good overall time, but to actually be competitive across all of its events.
