Ben Erlandson is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Science and Technology with an emphasis in Digital Media in the School of Information, Technology, and Communication Design (ITCD) at California State University, Monterey Bay.

He holds a PhD in Educational Technology from the Division of Advanced Studies in Learning, Technology, and Psychology in Education of the institute formerly known as the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education at Arizona State University. His dissertation is entitled: "Fostering Ecological Literacy: Recognizing and Appreciating Emergence in a Complex Virtual Inquiry Environment".

Ben is a native of Elkin, a small town in the foothills of North Carolina, and this makes him an Elkinite. Some folks have accused him of speaking with a Southern accent. He just thinks they all sound funny.

Some of Ben's favorite things to do include bicycle racing, downhill skiing, fly fishing, and nature photography. Ben is a hardcore Kurt Vonnegut fan, a music junkie, and an indie movie fanatic. He's been known to get a little obsessive about Carolina Tarheels Basketball, too... but who in their right mind wouldn't?
